Mom Charged in Great Wolf Lodge Stabbing Deaths

[#~image_alt_1~#] A Pennsylvania mother is accused of stabbing her husband and their 3-year-old son to death inside their room at a Great Wolf Lodge resort, one day before the family was set to check out after a three-week stay.

Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, of Towanda, is charged with two counts of criminal homicide in the deaths of her husband, Charles "Chaz" Harrison, 36, and the couple's son. The killings happened Monday, Oct. 12, at the Great Wolf Lodge in Pennsylvania's Pocono region.

According to a criminal complaint, police were called to the resort by a 911 call reporting a suicidal woman who wanted help dying. The complaint identifies the caller as Harrison. Officers found Chaz Harrison and the boy with stab wounds inside the room, along with blood and various medications. A large butcher knife and a smaller knife were found in the bathroom, and resort staff confirmed the knives did not belong to the lodge.

While being taken to the hospital, Harrison told EMS workers, "It wasn't supposed to end like this," according to an affidavit.

The family checked in Sept. 21 and later extended their stay. A Great Wolf Lodge spokesperson said multi-week stays are uncommon but not unheard of, and are sometimes booked by families during home repairs. Investigators are trying to learn why the family left home. A background check showed the electricity at their Towanda house had been shut off, and a lawn care company said it hadn't seen the family in about a month.

Police searched the family's home Wednesday as they look for a motive. According to a search warrant, relatives described Harrison to investigators as dominant and controlling and said she resented the child. Chaz Harrison's sister, Melissa Rivera, said her brother's life centered on his wife and son.
