Toddler Snack Bars at Costco, Target Recalled Over Choking

âš‘ Recall alertNovember 4, 2026

A box of soft-baked toddler snack bars on a kitchen counter next to a small plate, with a red warning stripe across the corner.

The FDA says parents should not buy or serve Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars, citing a "potentially fatal choking hazard." The agency says it received several reports of toddlers with complete airway obstruction, and the company has agreed to recall the bars.

The short version

Product: Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bars, all flavors, lots and dates

Sold at: Online and in stores including Costco, Target and Walmart, per the FDA

Hazard: Potentially fatal choking hazard, per the FDA

What to do: Throw the bars away immediately, per the FDA

What's affected

The recall covers every Once Upon a Farm Tractor Wheels Organic Toddler Soft-Baked Bar, according to the FDA, with all flavors, lots and expiration dates included. Houston Chronicle and ABC News list three flavors: Apple, Sweet Potato & Spinach; Strawberry, Pumpkin & Beet; and Banana, Pumpkin & Cauliflower. The FDA says the bars are sold nationwide online and at stores including Costco, Target and Walmart, and may also be sold on Amazon and through other third-party vendors. NBC Connecticut reported that no other Once Upon a Farm products are affected.

The FDA says it received several reports of toddlers ages 1.5 to 2.5 "suffering complete airway obstruction with the inability to breathe." The agency says some incidents "required emergency response intervention and hospital observation." According to the FDA, the bars reportedly form a "dry, sticky mass" when chewed, and back blows and the Heimlich maneuver "may fail to dislodge" it. The FDA says it told the company about the reports and the company "agreed to initiate a recall." The FDA does not say how many reports it received.

What the company says

Once Upon a Farm, based in Berkeley, California, issued a press release on October 30, according to the Houston Chronicle. NBC Connecticut reported that the company said it had received three reports of a potential choking hazard. Yahoo Finance reported that the company's chief executive said the entire line was recalled because the company lacked clarity on which flavors or lots were affected. ABC News' headline says the company will reformulate the bars. NBC Chicago reported on the recall on October 31, 2026.

What to do if you bought it

The FDA says not to buy or serve the bars, and to throw them away immediately.
