If you have ever been an Amazon Prime member, you may be owed money from a $2.5 billion FTC settlement — and payments are actively being distributed right now. The settlement covers eligible Prime members who were enrolled without full consent or who had difficulty canceling their membership. Refunds of up to $51 are being sent via PayPal, Venmo, and physical check, and the distribution is happening in waves. Not everyone will receive their payment at the same time. If you filed a claim before the July 27, 2026 deadline, here is exactly what to do right now to make sure your money reaches you.
What Is This Settlement?
The Federal Trade Commission filed suit against Amazon, alleging the company enrolled consumers in Prime without their full knowledge and made it deliberately difficult to cancel. Amazon agreed to a $2.5 billion settlement without admitting wrongdoing. Eligible consumers who filed claims by the July 27 deadline are receiving payments based on their membership history. Refunds vary but can reach up to $51 per person.
Why Might Your Payment Be Missing?
Payments sent via PayPal and Venmo expire if not accepted within 15 days of the notification. If you missed that window, the payment should have automatically converted to a physical check mailed to your address on file with the settlement administrator. If your address has changed since you filed your claim — or since your Amazon account was created — your check may be headed to the wrong location.
What Should You Do Right Now?
Log directly into PayPal.com or the Venmo app — not through any email link — and look for any unclaimed payment from the Amazon Prime settlement. If you do not see a digital payment, check your physical mail for a check from the settlement administrator. If your address has changed, contact the administrator immediately at admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com to update your mailing information before a check is sent to the wrong address. If you have done all of this and still cannot find your payment, call the settlement administrator’s helpline and request a payment trace. Payments were expected to be fully distributed by late September 2026 — if you have not received anything by October, contact the administrator directly to check your claim status.
