Conair Recalls 1.7 Million Cuisinart Wire Grill Brushes Over Metal Bristles That Detach And Can Be Swallowed

Conair LLC of Stamford, Connecticut, has recalled approximately 1,719,995 Cuisinart metal wire bristle grill brushes after the small wire bristles were found to detach from the brush and stick to the grill or food — posing an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries requiring surgery. The recall was announced July 2, 2026. Conair has received 54 reports of bristles detaching, including three confirmed cases in which consumers swallowed metal bristles and required medical treatment to remove them from their throat or digestive tract. With peak grilling season underway, these brushes may be in active daily use across millions of households.

What’s Being Recalled?

Eight Cuisinart model numbers are included. The model number is printed on the product packaging:

CCB-100 — Triple Bristle Grill Cleaning Brush (sold January 2013–March 2026)
CCB-4125 — 4-in-1 Grill Cleaning Brush with Stainless Steel Wire Bristles (October 2022–March 2026)
CCB-5014 — BBQ Grill Cleaning Brush and Scraper, 16.5″ Stainless Steel (June 2009–March 2026)
CCB-6450 — Triple Bristle Grill Brush SS Bristles (January 2025–March 2026)
CCB-8012 — 2-In-1 Grill Brush Bristle/Coil (January 2025–March 2026)
CCB-4114 — Pizza Stone Cleaning Brush (2024)
CCB-W2 — Wood Grill Cleaning Brush, 18.5″ Pakka Wood Handle (March 2024–July 2025)
CSBS-777 — Steam Clean Grill Brush (March 2014–July 2025)

Some brushes were also sold as part of Cuisinart grill sets (models CGS-2010, CGS-W13, CGS-5014, and CGS-5020). Brushes were sold at Burlington, TJ Maxx, Ross, Amazon.com, and Cuisinart.com for between $8 and $20.

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The small metal wire bristles on these grill brushes can detach during use and become embedded in grill grates or stick to food. When food is then eaten, a loose bristle can be ingested without being detected — entering the throat, esophagus, or digestive tract and causing lacerations, punctures, or blockages that may require surgery. Conair has received 54 reports of bristles detaching, including three confirmed cases requiring medical intervention to remove swallowed bristles.

What Should You Do?

Stop using all recalled Cuisinart wire bristle grill brushes immediately and throw them away. Contact Conair for a full cash refund, or opt for a Cuisinart.com store credit equal to the refund amount plus an additional 20%. Contact Conair toll-free at 888-520-1304, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, or register online at recallrtr.com/grillbrushes or cuisinart.com (click “Product Recalls” at the bottom of the page).
