Galil Importing Corp of Hauppauge, New York, is recalling Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning after a sample collected and analyzed by the Maryland Department of Health found the product contains elevated levels of lead exceeding food safety limits. The recall was announced September 24, 2026. No illnesses have been reported. The product was distributed to retail stores, grocery stores, delis, and supermarkets in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, and Illinois.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall covers Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning, 3.2 oz (90g), sold in transparent plastic containers in case packs of 6 units, with UPC 794711005484. Only containers with lot code GAP11304, found on the side of the container under the ingredient line, are included. The product was distributed between November 18, 2025, and September 7, 2026.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The Maryland Department of Health collected and analyzed a sample of this product and found it to contain elevated levels of lead. Lead is a toxic heavy metal with no safe level of exposure, particularly for young children. Even low levels of chronic lead exposure in children can cause permanent damage to the central nervous system, including learning disorders, developmental defects, and long-term health problems. In adults, elevated blood lead levels are associated with cardiovascular disease, kidney damage, and nervous system effects. While short-term exposure to low levels may not cause immediate symptoms, increased blood lead levels may be the only apparent sign of exposure.
What Should You Do?
