Why Was This Product Recalled?
FDA laboratory testing found two hidden pharmaceutical and chemical substances in the product. The daytime (AM) tablets contain fluoxetine — a prescription-only FDA-approved antidepressant that is not approved for use as a weight-loss supplement. Fluoxetine can cause suicidal thoughts, abnormal bleeding, seizures, and dangerous heart rhythm problems, particularly when combined with other medications. The nighttime (PM) tablets contain DNP (2,4-dinitrophenol), an industrial toxic substance used as a pesticide, herbicide, and wood preservative that is NOT approved for human consumption. DNP is illegally marketed as a weight-loss compound and has caused multiple deaths. It raises body temperature to dangerous levels, causes rapid breathing, and can lead to cardiac arrest. When both substances are present together, the risk of fatal cardiac events is further elevated. Additional long-term risks include eye damage, bone marrow damage, and nervous system damage.
