Oliva LLC of Bethlehem, Connecticut, is recalling approximately 250 units of Riad’s Oliva to Go Baba Ghanouj, Spicy Baba Ghanouj, and Hummus after an inspection revealed that sesame — a major food allergen — was not declared on the product’s ingredient label. The recall was announced October 9, 2026. No illnesses have been reported. The recalled products were distributed exclusively to gourmet shops and farm markets in Litchfield County, Connecticut, and Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
What’s Being Recalled?
Three Riad’s Oliva to Go products are included, all sold in clear plastic square containers with white and green labeling:
Riad’s Oliva to Go Baba Ghanouj — best-by dates October 10 through October 14, 2026.
Riad’s Oliva to Go Spicy Baba Ghanouj — best-by dates October 10 through October 14, 2026.
Riad’s Oliva to Go Hummus — best-by dates October 12 through October 18, 2026.
The best-by date is stamped on the side of each container’s label.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
An inspection revealed that sesame was not declared on the product’s ingredient list despite being present in the recipe. Sesame was added as the ninth major food allergen under federal law in January 2023, meaning manufacturers are required to declare it on all food labels. For consumers with a sesame allergy, consuming undeclared sesame can trigger reactions ranging from hives and digestive distress to severe anaphylaxis. Oliva LLC states it has corrected its labeling since discovering the discrepancy.
What Should You Do?
If you have a sesame allergy and purchased any Riad’s Oliva to Go Baba Ghanouj, Spicy Baba Ghanouj, or Hummus from a gourmet shop or farm market in Litchfield County, CT or Great Barrington, MA with a best-by date between October 10 and October 18, 2026, do not eat the product. Return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement. Contact Oliva LLC at 203-266-5558, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET.
