About 51,000 lithium-ion battery packs made for reclining chairs are being recalled nationwide because they can overheat and catch fire. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of The Blue Cactus Company Reclining Chair 2500 mAh Battery Packs on September 24, 2026. The battery packs were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from May 2023 through July 2026 for about $105. They were imported by Go North Rocket 28 AB of Sweden.
What’s Being Recalled?
The recall involves The Blue Cactus Company Reclining Chair 2500 mAh Battery Packs with model number RWX-RBP02. The battery packs are black, with The Blue Cactus Company name and logo printed on the front and the model number printed on the back. These cordless battery packs were designed to power various brands of reclining chairs. That means one may be attached to a power recliner in your home even if the chair itself came from a different company. The CPSC recall number is 26-791.
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The lithium-ion battery inside the recalled packs can overheat, creating fire and burn hazards for consumers. The CPSC is aware of four reports of the batteries overheating, smoking, or igniting. No injuries have been reported so far. These packs often sit underneath or beside a recliner in living rooms and bedrooms, so an overheating battery could pose a serious fire risk inside the home.
What Should You Do?
Stop using the recalled battery packs immediately and contact The Blue Cactus Company for a free replacement battery pack. Consumers can reach the company by email at recall@thebluecactuscompany.com or visit thebluecactuscompany.com and click on “Important Recall Information” to learn more. Do not throw the recalled battery in the trash, curbside recycling bins, or the battery drop-off boxes found at retail and home improvement stores. Recalled lithium-ion batteries require special disposal because they carry a greater fire risk. Your local household hazardous waste collection center may accept them, so call ahead to confirm before dropping one off.
