Vitality Works Inc. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is recalling one lot of 365 Whole Foods Market Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha Capsules nationwide because of potential Salmonella contamination, the FDA says. The company announced the recall on October 30, 2026. No illnesses have been reported to date.
What's Being Recalled?
The recalled product is the 120 count bottle of ashwagandha capsules, packaged in a white plastic bottle. It was sold online through Amazon.com and at Whole Foods Market stores nationwide from November 24, 2025, through October 20, 2026. Only one lot is affected. The lot number and expiration date are printed on the bottom of the bottle. The affected product and lot code are:
- 365 Whole Foods Market Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha Capsules, 120 count, UPC 9948252099, Lot 2025-26227, Expiration 10/13/2028
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The contamination was identified through routine sampling of a single retail unit. According to the FDA, Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the organism can enter the bloodstream and cause more severe illnesses, including arterial infections (infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.
What Should You Do?
Check the bottom of your bottle for lot number 2025-26227. If it matches, do not consume the product. Discard it, and do not return it to the store. Refunds are available at any Whole Foods Market store. Questions can be directed to Vitality Works Inc. at (505) 268-9950, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Mountain Time. Anyone who has consumed the product and feels unwell should contact a health care provider. The FDA notes it does not endorse either the product or the company.
