The CPSC is warning consumers to immediately stop using about 393,000 Tristar Products, Inc.6-Quart Power Quick Pot electric pressure cookers, model Y6D-36. The agency issued the warning on October 15, 2026 and says it has received 24 reports of the cookers expelling hot contents unexpectedly, resulting in serious burn injuries. This is a safety warning, not a formal recall. Tristar has refused to recall the cookers or offer consumers a remedy.
What's Being Recalled?
The warning covers 6-quart Power Quick Pot electric pressure cookers. They are stainless steel with a black pressure lid, button controls and a digital temperature and function display. The words "Power Quick Pot" are printed on the front, and the model number is on a label on the back. The cookers were imported by Tristar of Altamonte Springs, Florida, and made in China. They were sold at Walmart.com, Amazon.com, Ebay.com and other retailers nationwide from about July 2018 to November 2023 for between $44 and $160. The affected product is:
- Power Quick Pot 6-Quart electric pressure cooker, Model Y6D-36, sold July 2018 to November 2023
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The CPSC says the lid can open while the cooker is pressurized, causing hot contents to be expelled unexpectedly. That poses a risk of serious burn injuries. The agency reports 24 incidents of hot contents being expelled, resulting in serious burn injuries. Because Tristar declined to recall the product, there is no refund, replacement or repair program, and the CPSC issued its own warning to alert owners.
What Should You Do?
The CPSC urges owners to stop using the cookers immediately and dispose of them. Do not sell or give them away. To check your unit, look for "Power Quick Pot" on the front and model Y6D-36 on the label on the back. Anyone who was injured can report it at SaferProducts.gov or call the CPSC at 800-638-2772. For medical concerns after a burn, contact a health care provider.
