The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says about 138 SOOWERY 8-Drawer Fabric Dressers, sold by Shenzhen Zhongyuantong Technology Co., Ltd., dba SOOWERY, are being recalled. The CPSC announced the recall on October 29, 2026 (recall number 27-049). It warns the dressers can tip over and entrap children, and that they violate the mandatory federal standard for clothing storage units. No incidents or injuries have been reported.
What's Being Recalled?
The recalled dresser comes in gray and black and has eight fabric drawers and a metal frame. It measures 47.2 inches wide, 11.8 inches long and 35.4 inches tall, and weighs 47.5 pounds. The dressers were manufactured in China and sold online at Amazon.com from December 2025 through August 2026 for about $106. The SKU is printed on the product's packaging. The affected product and SKU is:
- SOOWERY 8-Drawer Fabric Dresser, gray and black, SKU SOO-8DD-G01
Why Was This Product Recalled?
The CPSC says the dressers are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall. That poses tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in serious injuries or death to children. The dressers also violate the mandatory safety standard required by the STURDY Act. Even with a small number of units sold, the risk to young children is serious.
What Should You Do?
The CPSC says to stop using the dressers immediately if they are not anchored to the wall, and to place them in an area children cannot access. Contact SOOWERY for a full refund. You will be asked to write "RECALLED" in permanent marker on the top, front and sides of the dresser, remove all drawers, email photos of the marked, disassembled dresser to SOOWERYrecall@outlook.com, and then dispose of the product. SOOWERY is reachable by email only at that address. You can also reach the CPSC at 800-638-2772 (TTY 800-638-8270).
