SLR Food Recalls Wise Wife Cinnamon Over Lead

Product Recall Alert

SLR Food Distribution Inc. of Hicksville, New York, is voluntarily recalling Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon from SLR Food Distribution Inc. because it may contain elevated levels of lead. The company announced the recall on October 29, 2026, and the FDA posted it the same day. No illnesses have been reported to date.

What's Being Recalled?

The recalled product is Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon in a 110 g (3.88 oz) clear plastic container with a black screw-top cap. It was sold at retail and grocery stores in 14 states: Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. Sales ran from September 8, 2025, to June 28, 2026. The UPC is printed on the back label. The affected product is:

- Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon, 110 g (3.88 oz), UPC 0688474302754, Best Before 4/25/2027

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The recall began after a sample collected and analyzed by The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station showed elevated lead levels. The FDA announcement says short-term exposure to very low levels of lead may not cause symptoms, and increased blood lead levels may be the only apparent sign. More signs and symptoms are likely with acute exposure to higher levels or with chronic exposure. Lead can affect nearly every bodily system, and the effects depend on the amount and duration of exposure and on the person's age and body weight. If a child is exposed to enough lead for a prolonged period, from weeks to months, permanent central nervous system damage may occur, including learning disorders, developmental defects and other long-term health problems.

What Should You Do?

Check your pantry for the UPC and the Best Before date listed above. If you have the product, do not consume it. Discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The company is notifying customers to stop sales, pull the product from shelves and hold remaining inventory. For questions, contact SLR Food Distribution Inc. at 1-516-437-3782 or slrusaorder@gmail.com, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Talk to a health care provider about any health concerns, especially for children who may have eaten the product.
