Hatsan Blitz And Blitz 777 Air Rifles Recalled Over Risk Of Unexpected Firing

Black pellet air rifle

HatsanUSA, Inc. of Bentonville, Arkansas, is recalling about 16,170 Hatsan Blitz and Hatsan Blitz 777 air rifles because they can fire unexpectedly, posing a risk of serious injury or death. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on October 15, 2026. The air rifles were sold at sporting goods stores and gun shops nationwide, online at hatsanairgunsusa.com, and through retailers including Utah Airguns, Airgun Depot, and Pyramyd Air. Sales ran from February 2020 through March 2026, with prices between $800 and $1,100.

What's Being Recalled?

The recall involves all units of the Hatsan Blitz and Hatsan Blitz 777 pellet air rifles sold during that period, in .22, .25, and .30 calibers. These are pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) air rifles that can be set to semi-automatic or full-automatic fire. They are black, with a synthetic stock, a carbon fiber air tank mounted beneath the barrel, and a rotary magazine. The Hatsan logo, a circular mark with the word "HATSAN" next to a bow and arrow graphic, appears on the left side of the receiver along with the model name "BLITZ" or "BLITZ 777." Serial numbers and manufacturing dates are engraved on the right side of the receiver above the bolt. The CPSC recall number is 27-025.

Why Was This Product Recalled?

The air rifles can fire unexpectedly if the bolt is released before the rifle is fully cocked. A pellet fired without warning could strike the user or someone nearby, which could cause serious injury or death. HatsanUSA has received one report of an accidental misfire. No injuries have been reported. The CPSC handled this as a Fast Track recall, meaning the company worked quickly with the agency to address the hazard.

What Should You Do?

Stop using the recalled air rifle immediately and make sure it is unloaded. Contact HatsanUSA for a free replacement trigger assembly, which will be mailed to you along with installation instructions. If you would rather not install it yourself, HatsanUSA will send a prepaid shipping label so you can return the rifle for inspection and replacement. HatsanUSA can be reached toll-free at 877-750-3375 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central, Monday through Friday, or by email at blitzrecall@hatsanusa.com.
